Smethurst Lake


Good spawning area. This lake is a shallow wide spot in Hellroaring Creek. Most of shoreline is marshy. Prospector Melvin Martin may have planted these cutts in 1901-05. In 2014 Yellowstone cutthroat trout were sampled in the small marsh ponds south of Smethurst Lake.

Directions Hike up Hellroaring Creek from the Jeep Trail #3004. NW down a steep grassy slope from the trailhead.
