  1. Cree Crossing WMA was purchased in 2009 through FWP's Habitat Montana program and is located approximately 21 miles northeast of Malta, MT. The 397-acre WMA has nearly twp miles of Milk River frontage and has a mixe of native habitat and portions planted into dense nesting cover along with shelter belts. The primary goal of the Cree Crossing WMA is to restore and manage the riparian and upland habitats for the benefit of wildlife with upland game birds being the primary focus. The WMA also benefits a variety of other game and nongame birds, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians. An additional goal of the WMA is to provide public opportunity for outdoor recreation, primarily in the forms of hunting, trapping, fishing, and bird watching.

Directions:
Approximately 17 miles east of Malta take Hwy 243 north off of US Hwy 2. Follow Hwy 243 around the eastern side of Nelson Reservoir for approximately 6 miles until the road angles to the north along the irrigation canal. Continue along the road until you go over the Milk River and the WMA will be on both sides of the road on the north side of the river.
