- Cree Crossing WMA was purchased in 2009 through FWP's Habitat Montana program and is located approximately 21 miles northeast of Malta, MT. The 397-acre WMA has nearly twp miles of Milk River frontage and has a mixe of native habitat and portions planted into dense nesting cover along with shelter belts. The primary goal of the Cree Crossing WMA is to restore and manage the riparian and upland habitats for the benefit of wildlife with upland game birds being the primary focus. The WMA also benefits a variety of other game and nongame birds, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians. An additional goal of the WMA is to provide public opportunity for outdoor recreation, primarily in the forms of hunting, trapping, fishing, and bird watching.
