Where to Fish Holter Reservoir

Special Notices & Closures

Fishing Report for the week of 07/13/2026

Rainbow fishing has been great, and the best bite has been early morning. Good numbers of trout are being caught on the upper end of the reservoir while flyfishing with leech patterns or small nymphs. Trolling dodgers or cowbells with wedding rings or hoochies has been a killer for trout, and it has been producing a few nice kokanee at depths down to 60 feet near the Dam as well. Some other great spots for hungry trout have been near the Sleeping Giant, across from Cottonwood Creek, and from Split Rock to the Dam. A few walleye are being caught in some of the small bays in the Canyon with jigs and crawlers or slip bobbers and leeches. A few northern pike continue to be caught around weed beds mostly on the upper end of the reservoir with larger streamers, spinners, or swim baits. A few perch are being caught around the weed beds with smaller jigs but not many anglers are reporting large numbers of perch.
