Where to Fish Throop Lake


Reproduction is occurring as .5-1" fish were seen in '89 and lots of 5-6" fish in '94 test 3-4" fish in '00. No obvious spawning areas. Monitor closely for continued reproduction. Steve swedberg reports 13-16" CT's in '86. Fish were rare. D Arneson 7/88 caught six 12" cutts in 1/2 hour. Mark Barrett 7/93 lots of fish 6-12", some looked good, others thin. Fish trying to spawn in the inlet stream. USGS map also has another Throop Lake located just upstream from second rock lake. MFWP survey 06, few and thin fish, may need to be put back on planting sched. Spawning habitat poor. No reproduction. 2012 FWP survey 13.5 hr net set 32 YCT caught.

Directions Four miles on clay Butte Trail to Thiel Lake trail. Past Thiel Lake 1/2 mile to swede lake outlet stream. Stay on east side of stream.
