Where to Fish Elk Lake


The Yellowstone cutthroat grow well in Elk Lake. In 2012, 9 YCT were caught in 4.5 hr net set.

Elevation 9528.4 ft.
Directions It is 6 miles up Copper Creek Trail #15 to West Boulder Divide and then 2 miles north along the divide to where you drop into the lake. It is a tough hike up Elk Creek. An angler reported hiking up the north side of Elk Creek and it took them 10-11 hours to reach the lake.
