Canyon Ferry Lake is a reservoir on the Missouri River near Helena, Montana and Townsend, Montana. It is Montana's third largest body of water, covering 35,181 acres (142 km²) and 76 miles (122 km) of shore (1). It was formed by the building of Canyon Ferry Dam, which was completed in 1954 and has been used for electricity, irrigation, and flood controls since.

Fishing Report for the week of 07/14/2025
Walleye fishing is very good around Ponds 2 and 3 and the river mouth in 20 feet of water. Also, from White Earth to Round-top and between Confederate and Duck Creek in 20 to 35 feet of water on bottom bouncers with slow-death rigs or worm harnesses in various colors. Various colored jigs and crankbaits have been working as well. A few perch are being caught by anglers using walleye rigs in these same areas. Rainbows are being caught on walleye gear, lures or cowbells in the traditional walleye spots as well as the north end of the reservoir. Shore fishing has produced a few rainbows around the Silos, Confederate and White Earth.
