Where to Fish Great Falls Creek Lake, Lower


This is a nice secluded location that does not receive very many visitors. Starting in 2007 Yellowstone cutthroat were stocked annually with intent to swamp out rainbow trout genetics. Legal harvest of rainbow trout is encouraged. MTFWP sampled in 2014 and 2018 finding no sign of Rainbows. Fish are plentiful and a few of the sampled fish were skinny likely due to the high abundance of fish in the lake. In 2014, 31 of the 51 fish sample was obtained by angling for 6 hours.

Directions: Trail #18 up great Falls Creek. It's the first lake you come to ~7 miles from the trailhead. It's slightly off the trail to the NW 6.5 miles up.
