Where to Fish Mosquito Lake


Poor Grayling survival led to a change in stocking to Yellowstone Cutthroat in 2020. Sampled 4 year old fish in 2024 with angling only. The cutthroats are doing much better than the Grayling did.

Directions: Trail #31 to lady of the lake. Cross the outlet stream here and at swamp lake to the east. Then northeast from the north side of weidy lake.

Background:

Shannon has been with FWP since 2020 after 15 years of working around the west for various agencies as a fisheries technician and biologist. In 2018, she received her Master's of Science in Natural Resources from the University of Idaho. She enjoys working and recreating in south-central Montana because of the diverse fishes, people, and landscapes.

Background:

Demi has been with FWP since 2022 and has accumulated 10 years experience working first as a fisheries technician and then as a fisheries biologist. Demi obtained her Master's of Aquatic Ecology from Utah State University in 2018 working with the desert fishes of the Rio Grande in Big Bend National Park before coming 'home' to the mountains. As a native Montanan, she is excited to better understand the fish dynamics of her home state, as well as participate in the many outdoor hobbies she regularly enjoys with her husband and two small children (e.g., hunting, camping, fishing, climbing, boating).
