Where to Fish Georgetown Lake


Georgetown Reservoir is a high elevation reservoir located in southwestern Montana, about 8 miles south of the town of Philipsburg. It is approximately 2088 surface acres at full pool making it the largest still-water body in the upper Clark Fork River drainage (Berg 2009).

Elevation: 6336.96 ft
Directions: 13 miles west of Anaconda on Hwy 1, turn onto Georgetown Lake Road and travel southwest about 1.5 miles to FAS sign.
Status of the Fishery: 5/16/2018--A partial fish kill was reported and observed. Biologists observed 500+ adult dead fish. UPDATE 3/5/2019: MFWP crew gill netted Georgetown Reservoir in September 2018. Results from the netting were similar to previous years netting results. The fish kill did not appear to have a deleterious effect on the overall fish population.
