Kelley Reservoir


Kelley Reservoir is a man-made lake in the Pioneer Mountains. It found in the Rattlesnake Creek Drainage and is accessible by a USFS road in a 4X4 vehicle. Kelley Reservoir has a well defined inlet and a spillway dam on the outlet. A primitive boat launch is located on the southeast end of the lake and motorized boats are allowed on the lake. Kelley reservoir sees a lot of human traffic due to the ease of access.

Elevation: 7179.92 ft
Directions: Take Highway 278 south of Dillon to Argenta Road. From Argenta Road, head northwest on USFS Road 192 all the way to the lake.
Status of the Fishery: There is a robust population of small, self-sustaining Brook trout and a few Rainbow trout can be found swimming around. The average of size of both species in Kelley Reservoir was around 9 inches in 2018.
